Brno Flat Bar Side Chair - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Made of steel and leather, the Brno Chair expresses Mies' regard for simplicity. The chair is named after Brno, Czechoslovakia, where it debuted in the Tugendhat House.

Brno Chair
Designed in 1930, the brno chair with a simple profile, clean lines and meticulous attention to detail - reflects the groundbreaking simplicity of its original environment and have elevated the Brno chair to an icon of twentieth century furniture design.
In 1958 Phillip Johnson requested that Knoll produce the flat bar Brno Chair for use in his design of the Four Seasons restaurant. After making a few slight adjustments, including added cushioning — all with the approval of Mies — Knoll reintroduced the chair in 1958 and continues to produce each chair to Mies’ exacting standards, thanks to a collaboration with the Mies van der Rohe Archives at The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Brno Chair
The Brno Flat Bar Chair have a cantilevered base, the Brno offers the comfort of an armchair without the old-line stuffiness or bulk of upholstery. Weighty bar stock steel lends the chair its strength and boasts seamless joints and hidden hardware. A lengthy triple-plate chroming process ensures a resilient, rust-resistant mirror-quality finish. The padded seat is upholstered in supple full-grain leather for long-enduring appearance retention and ease of maintenance-two especially important features for offices and waiting areas.
The slim and elegant Knoll Flat Bar Brno Chair reproduction from Yadea Furniture provides a classic, clean seating solution ideal for conference rooms, lounge areas, offices and any home environment.
